根据Nature出版集团（Nature Publishing Group）正式发布的2015自然指数（Nature Index,简称NI指数）数据显示，华东师范大学2015自然指数在世界各大科研机构和高校中排名第148位，上一年度为第188位。在2015自然指数全球前200名科研机构排名中，我国（包括台湾和香港）有24所大学入围，我校名列第18位。
2015自然指数涵盖了2014年1月1日至12月31日发表在68种自然科学类世界一流科研期刊上的57501篇论文，这是继2014年12月Nature出版集团发布2014自然指数以来，第二次以“加权分值计数法”（WFC，weighted fractional count）指数方式发布自然指数。我校2014年度共发表自然指数数据库论文144篇，WFC值比上一年度增长23%。
